“The Witness” tells the story of a woman who witnesses a murder, triggering a series of pursuits and escapes. Space, time, and events are the constituent elements of virtual imagery space, where specific actions or other contents of characters in particular spaces at specific times ultimately constitute events. Time, as a known parameter, requires only the extraction of parameters related to the events occurring in the space to express the content and relationships of these three elements in the imagery parametrically. Thus, in this film, where the main event is the chase, I analyze five scenes (discovering the murder – outdoor chase – encounter in the nightclub – outdoor chase – indoor counterattack), three spaces (residences of the male and female protagonists – urban outdoor spaces – nightclub), and two characters (female protagonist – male protagonist). I chose spatial trajectories and the relative distance between the male and female protagonists as the parameters to represent space, thereby illustrating the spatial characteristics and cyclical narrative structure of time and space in this film.
